Sharon Moten Obituary

Sharon Ann Moten, known affectionately as “Momma Sharon” to many, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023, in Opelika, Alabama. Born on September 19, 1960, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, to the late Christine Blue Stovall, Willie J Stovall and Benjamin P Tucker. Sharon was a loving, kind, and thoughtful woman who touched the lives of many.

At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined Ridge Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Alexander City, AL. She served on the usher board, sang in the choir and held roles as youth leader and in hospitality.

Sharon was a dedicated employee of GKN Aerospace where she worked for over 10 years. She spent majority of her career at Russell Corporation for more than 25 years. She was employed at Georgia Pacific and Wal-mart. Her work ethic was unmatched , and she was respected by her colleagues for her commitment and dedication.

Sharon will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, William Michael Moten of Alexander City, AL; Children: Christina (Marshel) Riley of Douglasville GA, Hillary Tucker, William Michael Moten Jr. and Keneshia (Chris) Jones all of Alexander City, AL. Sharon’s joy was magnified by her grandchildren, Kali and K’Lynn Tucker of Alexander City; Christopher and Maddison Riley of Douglasville, GA; LeDarius Taylor of Dallas, GA; JaMichael and Journee Moten of Alexander City, AL; and Christian Jones of Alexander City, AL.  She also leaves behind her sisters, Robbie McKinney of Calera, AL; Allison Kelley and Barbara Hill of Alexander City, AL; and Barbara Oliver of New Site, AL; Sister-in laws: Virginia (Douglas) Riggins and Bernita (Willie) Kelly of Alexander City, AL; Brother-in law: Rodney Moten of Alexander City, AL. She will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceeded in death by her brothers, Terrance Stovall, William Lurun Stovall, and Warren Stovall all of Alexander City, AL, who each held a special place in her heart.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with family and especially her grandkids. She was a avid reader and loved watching Sci-Fi and the game show network. She was a passionate fan of Alabama football and never missed the opportunity to cheer them on. She was a great cook and known especially for her famous cornbread dressing, red velvet and cocunut cakes. Sharon was a woman of many virtues, but her loving nature, kindness and thoughtfulness stood out the most. She had a heart full of love for her family and friends, always putting their needs before her own.

Sharon’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her children and her memory will continue to inspire everyone who was fortunate enough to have been a part of her life. Her passing is a great loss to all who knew her but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories of her loved ones.
