Rev. AL Joseph Lawson was born on April 14, 1957 in Alexander City, Alabama to the late Mrs. Bessie Miller Lawson and Mr. Paul Lawson, Sr.

           Rev. Lawson attended Laurel School.  After leaving school, he attended Job Corp.

On May 23, 1979, he married the love of his life Sacra Robinson.  She remained his sweetheart until his death.

He was a member of the Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church,  Alexander City, AL. He was employed for many years at Russell Pipe Shop. Also worked for Auther Stalling installing pools and worked at Jackson Refrigeration until his retirement.

Rev. Lawson was a loving kind man.  His love for Christ was shown through his preaching and teaching which he loved.  He also loved to cook and dance.  A true Auburn Tigers Fan.  He loved his church family and was dedicated and faithful until the end. The 23rd Psalm was his guide through his daily tasks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters: Beverly A. Lawson,  Betty J. Lawson and Bobbie J. Ephraim; 3 brothers: Rev. Paul Lawson, Jr., Joe C. Lawson and James A. Lawson.

Rev. Al Lawson departed this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his home.

He leaves a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished by his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Sacra D. Lawson; 3 children: Shlettia (Alfred) Lawson, Senterrell (Shenika) Robinson and Senterrica Lawson; God-son, Tyre Jones; Grandchildren: Arieyouna McNeal & Jalarris Richardson;1 sister, Mrs. Daisy (Anthony) Smith; 2 brothers: John Wayne Lawson and Tommy Lee Lawson; Sister, Minister Geraldine (Chris) Harvey; 2 sisters in law: Mrs. Becky Lawson and JoAnn Robinson; 5 brothers in law: David (Tiffany) Robinson, Warren Robinson, Ronnie (Michelle) White, Johnrecius Robinson, &  Rodney Robinson all of Alexander City, AL; Special friends: Joe Young, Shelia Young, Rena Marbury, Scottie Marbury and Rev. Sammy Varner all of Alexander City, Alabama. The entire Rocky Mount Church Family, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
