She was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a missionary, part of the kitchen committee, and a deacon’s wife. She attended church until her health wouldn’t allow her too. Before her health started to decline, Janie enjoyed cooking, baking, fishing, talking on the phone and going out to eat with friends. She was definitely a fighter who beat the odds several times.
She leaves behind a son, Fredrick (Brenda) Owens and daughter, Djuna Owens. Granddaughters: Lashunda (Jonathan) Smith, Brittany Johnson, Nicole Mcintyre, Latasha Finely, and a Grandson, Dwight Allen.
