Mrs. HATTYE MYERS ARMOUR left this life to return to the open arms of her Creator on May 20, 2024.
Hattye was born on February 1, 1934 in Montgomery, Alabama to Jacob and Elmira Hester Myers. She attended St Jude Elementary and High School, graduating in 1951. Afterward, she attended Alabama State University, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education (1954). She began her career as a teacher at Hannah J Mallory School in Goodwater, AL. In 1978, she received a Master of Education Degree from Alabama State University. She was also a Licensed Funeral Director for the State of Alabama. Hattye retired after teaching in the Coosa County School System for over 30 years.
She joined St. Jude Catholic Church, Montgomery, AL at an early age and later moved her membership to Great Bethel Baptist Church, Alexander City, AL
Hattye married the love of her life, Otis Armour Jr. on June 28, 1957; they were life partners for 55 years. To this union 3 children were born, Darrell, Eulanda and Sharitta. Later in life she assumed her greatest role as “Nana” to 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Armour, Jr; a sister, Gloria Jean McDonald; 2 brothers, James Myers and Winston Myers.
Hattye leaves to cherish her memories: three children, Darrell Armour, Goodwater, AL; Eulanda Armour-Thompson, Mableton, GA; and Sharitta Armour, Alexander City, AL; 1 sister – Maxine Cannon, Soho, OH; 3 sisters-in-love, Christine Armour, Indianapolis, IN Helen Armour, Goodwater, AL and Linda Armour-Scott (Carlton) Wetumpka, AL; 1 bother-in-love, Demetrius Armour (Suzanne) Indianapolis, IN; 8 grandchildren, Sharlotta (Raymond), Jasmine, Daron, Breana, Aron, Amari, Asia, and Jacob; 3 loving caregivers, Lendy Kelly, Anita Riggins, and Yolanda Baker, host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
