Emily Celia (Taylor) Holley of Montgomery, Alabama, was born to S.J. and Doris Dawson Taylor of Goodwater, Alabama, on February 8, 1962, in Alexander City, Alabama. She passed away on June 28, 2023, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, after a brief illness.
For many years, she served as a faithful member of The Israel of God.
At a young age, she married Jeffery Holley Sr. on December 29, 1979, before relocating to Rota, Spain, for his military service. Two sons were born to this union.
A proud 1980 alumna of Goodwater High School, Celia worked as an administrative assistant in various capacities besides banking and retail positions and small business owner of Celia's Personalized Crafts. However, her most fulfilling work came from sharing her faith in God and testimony with others, plus being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
"Faith over fear" and "Keep God first, and everything else falls into place," she'd always say, and that's how she lived.
Diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease like her mother, grandmother, and two of her brothers in 1984, Celia became an organ donation advocate after a successful kidney transplant on July 20, 2021, without dialysis after her kidneys functioned at only 7% for over two years and helped others with kidney disease.
She enjoyed calligraphy, crafting, decorating, fishing, flowers, music, reading her Bible, spending time and traveling with her family, taking photographs and selfies and word search puzzles.
Her parents and siblings, Marie Lauderdale and Charles Taylor, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jeffery Sr.; sons Jeff Jr. and Darius; daughter-in-love Brittany; grandchildren Layla, Emmy, and Micah; grand-dog Anya; cat Bama; and dog Dallas, all of Montgomery, Alabama; brothers, S.D. (Vickie) of McDonough, Georgia, and Marvin of Jacksonville, Alabama; sister Vickie (Michael) of Anniston, Alabama, and a host of other relatives and special friends whom she adored and loved.
