Mrs. Elsie Riggins Obituary

Mrs. Elsie L. Riggins was born September 7, 1939 to the late Rev. Isaiah Owens, Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Jackson Owens.

Elsie was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Sisters: Mayola Floyd,  Alberta Milton, Carrie Jones, Laura Ann Shaw.  Brothers: Isaiah Owens Jr., Booker T. Owens and Henry Morgan.

Elsie became a member of the New Home Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and she remained a faithful member until her death on March 4, 2020.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Aairon Riggins and to this union three children were born.

Elsie attended Coosa County Training School (J.D. Thompson). She retired from Russell Corporation after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of the New Home Missionary Baptist Church Senior Choir, a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Lay Women, a Matron and a Note Singer. She was actively involved in the Morning Star District Center meetings and activities.  She believed in sharing her joy and love of mankind by frequently visiting the nursing and veterans homes of

Alexander City, Alabama. She was a proud and active member of her Neighborhood Watch Association. Elsie and Aairon could be seen walking the neighborhood frequently with their sticks in hand!

 

She leaves to cherish: a devoted husband, Aairon Riggins, two sons:Earnest (Katie) of Alabaster, Alabama, Sidney of Montgomery, Alabama,  and one daughter, Brenda of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 

Three sisters: Izedar Brown of Alexander City, Alabama, Ida Hosea of Rockford, Alabama and Amanda Owens of Alexander City, Alabama; two brothers: Calvin Owens (Katie) of Goodwater, Alabama, Fredrick Owens (Diane) of Sylacauga, Alabama.

Two Brothers in Law: Reverend Ceborn Riggins (Bessie) and Douglas Riggins (Virginia) both of Alexander City, Alabama.

Grand children: Trevonte Riggins, Kiara Moon Bullock, Sidrecuz Riggins and Jalen Riggins.

Great grand children: Kayden Morgan, Karter Morgan, Chase Riggins, Kameron Moon, Kaitlynn Moon and Kayson Riggins.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
