Doris Jennings Strong, 82, of Alexander City, AL. went home to be with the Lord, June 8, 2023, at Russell Medical Center.
Born in Camphill, AL to parents Jimmie Lee Jennings and George Jennings, she was a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church. After starting her beautiful family, Doris went to work at what is now called Russell Medical Center. After some years out of school, she eventually returned to graduate from Laurel High School.
Doris was an outdoorsy woman who loved to fish and garden. She was known in the community for her delicious Ic-ees and she was even dubbed the “Ic-ee Lady” by the children in the community.
She is preceded in death by all but one of her siblings.
She leaves behind her children: Toney Jennings of Vancouver, Canada, Jackie (Betty) Jennings of Miami, FL, Reginald (Stephanie) Jennings of Atlanta, GA, Regina Jennings and Yvonne Hunter both of Alexander City, AL; Tricia Russell of Montgomery, AL and Valeria (Greg) Strong of Auburn, AL; grandchildren: Brandon (Ceirra) Jennings, Constance (Marcus) Pulliam, Chanelle (Jonas) Lewis, Angela and Clarence Jennings, Re’Ashia, Rico, and Reuna Jennings, Undreaka Hunter, Jernika Russell, Kentavious Wright and Brittany Ragland; A sister Louise Jennings of Chattanooga, TN; 24 great-grandchildren, a special niece Lucile (Glenn) Robinson and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a great mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, etc.
She will by missed dearly!!
