Mrs. Donnie Ewing Obituary

Donnie Marie Ewing was born April 14th, 1953 in Alexander City, Alabama to Ruth Gaddis and Donald Tuck. She was the eldest of three children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Donald Tuck. Also, her late husband, Tommie Ewing Jr., and her sons: Wynell and Marvelle Tuck.

Donnie died unexpectedly in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama on April 16th, 2024, at the age of 71.

Donnie devoted her life to Christ during her early teenage years at
The Holiness Church of God of the Apostolic Faith, under the leadership of Apostle W.T. Traylor in Alexander City, AL. Throughout Donnie’s life, she remained a loyal servant and lover of God.

Donnie was educated in the Alexander City Schools system, along with some college in Selma, AL. She spent the beginning of her early work life, sewing at Russell Mill. However, later in life, she took her talents to Bill Nichol’s State Veterans Home; Donnie was the best receptionist they’d had. She retired from there after 12 years & stayed home to take care of her ill mom and husband.

Donnie loved to read and go to church. Donnie was passionate about ministry. Everyone will remember her as a kind, gentle, loving woman who encouraged everyone, simply out of love.

Donnie leaves to cherish her memory to a beloved granddaughter, more like a daughter, Mercedes Tuck. A brother and sister, Keith and Ophelia Tuck. An additional sister, Wanda Ann Jones. Also, her other grandchildren, Deliyah  Dowdell - Walters, Tenyia Hardnett, Jamyshia Dowdell, JaKeith Carr, &  Delaysha Walters. A special daughter, Tamitha Dowdell. Extended sisters in law, The Ewing Sisters, (Carmella, Nicci, Tomica, Tranyatta, Kenethia, Cassandra). A very adored cousin, Lisa Boddie. A special niece, Shomica Ewing. Donnie didn’t have much family, but she had great friends who were like family. Special friends: Linda Burton, Barbara Judkins, Aretha Jones, Juanita Alexander, Bernetta Humphrey, Jean Andrews-Rome, and Monica Veasley. Donnie viewed the close friends’ of Mercedes’ as her grandchildren as well, especially Khadijah Brown. The names that appear are dear to her heart but only a small fraction of the people she treasured. If Donnie met you, you knew she loved you.
