Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Murray Harris started her life’s journey on January 7, 1966 in Alexander City, Alabama to the late Duff George Murray and Ruth Ann Murray.
At an early age, Mrs. Harris confessed her love for Christ and joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a confident soprano.
Carolyn was a dedicated mother, grandmother, hard worker and shopper. One of her favorite sayings was “ALL ABOARD”! That is what she said when it was time to hit the road. If you weren’t ready, she would let you know this train is about to leave you as she’s walking out the door. Her heart was overflowing with love for her children, but she had even more for the ones who knew her as “Granny”. From trips to movie nights, she lived to have a good time! Carolyn was simply a joy to be around, you were guaranteed to get a good laugh or a good lesson, maybe both. Day or night, sick or well, she was always determined to be there for her loved ones. She would let absolutely nothing stand in the way of her doing exactly what she wanted. Carolyn will be remembered most for her heart of gold and a smile brighter than the sun itself.
On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Carolyn’s time on this earth ended. Though already an Angel in the flesh, she was welcomed and given her wings by: her Parents, Duff and Ruth Murray; her Sisters, Martha Murray Whetstone and Beneta Murray Range; and her Brother, Jerome Murray.
She leaves to remember her infectious smile, her one of a kind personality and endless wonderful memories: Devoted Husband, Alonza Harris; Two Sons, Fred Hill of Auburn, AL and Jamal (Ariana) Murray of Lawrenceville, GA; One Daughter, Temekia Hill of Goodwater, AL; Ten Grandchildren, Alona Hill, Asharie Hill, Lamiya Harrison, Alashia Hill, Treveon Tuck, Tytianna Hill, Angel Hill, Frederick Hill Jr., Zyaire Murray and Messiah Tuck; Five Brothers, Samuel (Phennie) Murray, Calvin (Marsha) Murray, Reginald (Ann) Murray, Dennis (Carolyn) McKinney and Sherman (Mary) Dawson; Special Niece, Mary Gaddis-Hollenquest; Close Friend / Sister, Jacqueline Russell. A Host of Nephews and Nieces, Cousins, Other Relatives and Friends.
