Annie Ruth Oliver Corbin was born on June 25, 1932 in Hollins, Alabama. She was the oldest of six children born to the union of Calloway and Annie Ransaw Oliver. Both her parents and son preceded her in death.
Annie Ruth attended the public schools of Clay and Talladega Counties. After her education she worked in textiles for Russell Mills Corporations. Soon after she began her career as a nursing assistant at Brown Nursing home. She was an exemplary employee, caring for the needs of others and proving comfort to patients. A humanitarian, she worked to ensure senior citizens were served with dignity and support.
At a young age, Annie Ruth gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Hollins Spring Baptist Church.
She was the mother of two children Jessie James and Emma Laverne Corbin. Both her children were the apple of her eye. Annie Ruth raised her niece and nephew, Twins, Petraz Oliver and Emez Oliver. Annie Ruth would tell anyone all of her children were born in the same month of September with a smile.
She was a caring heart for her family during their times of illness and she supported their achieved milestones. A woman of virtue that believed in our Saviour, she kept a tidy home and always ready to provide a helping hand to her family and friends. Her laugh was infectious, and she was a loving mother, sister, loyal friend and confidante to many. Annie Ruth in her spare time enjoyed canning and making homemade jelly and preserves. She was a fine cook and enjoyed being outside doing her gardening and yard work. She was a collector of vintage and heirloom furnishings.
