Richard McElrath, Jr. was born into this world on February 5, 1947. He was called from labor to his reward on August 21, 2020. He was the second oldest of 7 children born unto Richard T. & Johnceyline McElrath whom preceded him in death. Also, his oldest sister Eddie Mae Adams and his younger brother Frederick McElrath preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his wife JoAnn McElrath; joined in holy matrimony on June 16, 2018, and a mother- In-law ( Ms. Nettie Hart). In addition, he leaves to cherish his two son’s: Anthony McElrath “Tony” (Phyllis) & Maurice McElrath and a daughter, Lisa Winborne (Steve) and two grandsons: Anthony Maurice Walker & Maurice Anthony Jones and 4 great -grand children;Two steps-sons Yata McElrath (Latrice & Ari) and Eric McKinney. Richard Jr.. gave his life to God at an early age. He was an active member of Saint James AME Church in Goodwater, Alabama where he sang in the choir. He was a faithful worshiper and he loved the lord with all of his heart. What you really must know about Richard Jr.. is: he had a passion for fishing and a special love for God, FAITH, Family The family would be remiss not to state: Richard Jr. was always well put together and he did not take “NO JUNK”! He graduated from JD Thompson high school on September 1, 1961. He served in the United Sates Army, Infantryman at Fort Benning January 3, 1965. He Retired from Pratt & Whitney as a Jet Engine Parts Inspector, September 13, 1978 - February 1, 2008. He was very active in his community and at his church. Richard Jr.. leaves 3 sisters to cherish, Carrie Pope, Patricia Corbin (Earnest) and Betty Richardson and one brother James McElrath (Melissa). Moreover, Richard Jr. left to cherish a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Friends and Classmates. Uncle Richard, you will be missed.

You left us without any warning, Gone way to fast. We will always remember your last prayer with us weeks ago. The laughter, the smile upon your face and the opening up of your home to fellowship with your beloved family just one more time. The years of memories we all created will last forever with laugher and tears. We will miss Christmas, Birthday celebrations, Thanksgivings and all the just because visits. We miss you tremendously Richard and so will all the lives you have you have touched. Now you get to spend eternity........ spending those special days with Mother/Grandmother. Please tell Mama and Eddie Mae we love them and we think of them daily. We will see you again in the Heavenly Place Brother
