Joe Nathan Greathouse was born to the late Grady and Mrytis Greathouse on November 3, 1949 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Joe, Also known as Spoon to many of his friends and family, attended Council High School where he graduated with the class of 1969. Spoon’s life journey has truly been a blessing to everyone he has encountered beginning with his youth. Spoon peacefully and swiftly passed away on March 14 at his home with his daughter and granddaughter at his bedside. While in high school, Spoon was an avid sports player.
After completing high school, Spoon joined his father in the fields working on the farm, then deciding to travel and work. After many years of traveling working around the southern and northern states he began his career in textiles at Russell Mill. He worked for a total of 39 years.
Mr. Greathouse was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Faye; Mother and father, Sister Mae Ruth Johnson and Brother Grady Lee Greathouse.
He leaves memories that will forever be cherished in the hearts of his loved ones including his loving daughter, Shirley Holley of Millbrook, AL. One Granddaughter, ShaParis Mitchell of Millbrook, AL. One Grandson, Semajay Holley of Millbrook, AL. Three great grandchildren: Paisley Hutchins of Alexander City, AL; Braylen Holley of Alexander City, AL, and Gianna Faye Taylor of Millbrook, AL. One sister, Bettye Doris Belyeu of Alexander City, AL. Three sister in laws: Shirley (Cecil) Crayton of Jackson’s Gap, AL, Annie Doris Brooks of Alexander City, AL, and Tracy Blakely of Atlanta, GA. A special friend, June Williams; A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
