On Monday, September 15, 2025, our beloved Jimmie Lorenzo Hicks was called home by our Lord and Savior unexpectantly. He had just gotten fired up to watch another season of Alabama Crimson Tide football. Win or lose that was his favorite team and he always dressed for each occasion in one of his many Crimson Tide red and white football garments.
Jimmie was born and raised in Camp Hill, AL. His mother
Ruby Greene lived in New York, and his devoted grandparents Roland and Cleo Hicks were his guardians. He was baptized at Mt. Lovely Baptist Church and attended Tallapoosa County public schools through the tenth grade, after which he earned his G.E.D. at J.F. Ingram Technical School in Deatsville, AL. He continued his education and attended Alexander City Jr College.
In 1979 he joined the work force at Russell Athletic Manufactory in Alexander City, AL. His accomplishments included completing the Russell Supervisory Training course, and in 1989 he became a Management Trainee, he was later promoted to supervisor in the Fleece Knitting department. Jimmie met his belove wife, Jo Ann, who is now deceased while at Russell. She blessed him with her beautiful and devoted family that he loved and enjoyed until the end.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Ruby Greene; one son, Ricky (Vanessa) Owens; A brother-in-law Jimmy Parker; A sister-in-law Charlie Ann Parker; Four grandchildren: Brandon (Robin) Owens, Brandy Burton, Brittany (Gemain) Edwards, & Untayus Brown; Four great grandchildren: Desean Owens, Braxton Owens, Jayden Brown, & Cameron Brown; Four special friends that he loved dearly, Al Jennings, Nate, Rickey Powell, & Jimmy Parker; Aunts, Lillian Green & Marguerite Hicks; Cousins: Linda Green, Julian Jackson, Melania Maldonado-Hicks, and Samiya Simpson; A host of other family and friends.
