Mr. James Ellis Burton Jr., entered into eternal life on May 13, 2026. James was a man whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories to the people who knew and loved him. He had a spirit that could brighten a room, a smile that made people feel comfortable, and dance moves that family and friends will forever smile about whenever his name is mentioned. The love he shared and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those closest to him.
James parents were James Ellis Burton Sr., Gracie Pollard Burton, and Lillie M. Burton. Throughout his life, he valued family, relationships, and the simple moments that brought people together.
He was preceded in death by his beloved Wife, Judy Diane Burton; his loving daughter Erica L. Robinson; and his siblings: Mary Francis Marbury, Gary Burton, Terry Burton, Willie A. Burton, Elmira “Love” Burton, and Thelma Mitchell.
Cherishing his memory and carrying his love forward are his children: James L. Burton, Shavon (Kenyarta) Richardson, and Brandon Burton; Judy’s children: Tafanie Edwards, Terrance Edwards, and Rodrick Edwards; and the granddaughter he and Judy lovingly raised, Kayneisha Edwards.
His memory will forever live on through his grandsons: Elijah Richardson, Jaquavious “JD” Turner, Kenyon Richardson, Caiden Gaddis, and Domynic Chapman Allen; his siblings Willie Pearl Gray and Larry Burton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and lifelong friends who loved him dearly.
He shared years of memories, family, and care with Ida L. Robinson and Linda Burton who both remained close and dear to him.
As the family mourns this tremendous loss, they also hold tightly to the love, laughter, and unforgettable moments James gave so freely. His voice may now be silent, but the memories he created, the joy he brought, and the love he gave will continue to live on through everyone blessed enough to know him.
