Mr. Earlie Young Obituary

In Loving Memory of Earlie B. Young

A Life Well-Lived

Earlie B. Young, a man of profound strength, unwavering faith, and an incredible work ethic, peacefully transitioned on April 4, 2026. Born on October 8, 1938, to the late Jake Young Sr. and Rose Lee Young, Earlie’s life was a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of family.

A Legacy of Hard Work and Resilience

Earlie was a man who was never afraid of a hard day's work. While he was not blessed with the same early opportunities as others, he possessed a spirit that could not be deterred. At the young age of 13, he made the selfless decision to leave school in the 7th grade to begin working and help support his family’s household.

Even with the odds stacked against him, Earlie maintained a mindset of absolute dedication and commitment. He was constantly striving to create a better version of himself, a drive that helped shape and develop the remarkable character of the man we knew. This foundation of resilience carried him through his years driving cross-country for Ampex and his dedicated service at the Coca-Cola Company. He believed in the value of labor and instilled that same drive into everyone who knew him.

Serving with heart and dignity at Armour Memorial Funeral Home. The family extends a special thanks to the late Mr. Otis Armour for allowing Earlie to cast such a meaningfulshadow of support and care within the community during his time there.

Seeds Planted, Memories Harvested

Beyond his professional life, Earlie was a "planter of seeds." He didn't just grow gardens; he grew people. He poured wisdom, love, and life lessons into his children and grandchildren, leaving behind a rich harvest of memories.

His grandchildren will especially cherish the time spent with their "PaPa," specifically those first "driving lessons" on his tractor. Whether he was teaching them the ropes or simply cutting and mowing the grass in his yard, those moments in the sun became the foundation of the legacy he leaves behind.

A dedicated member of the community, he leaves behind a legacy of faith shared with his Mount Calvary Baptist Church family. Even in his final days, as he faced illness, Earlie’s character shone brighter than ever. He displayed an unwavering faith that inspired all who entered his room. He never complained about his burden; instead, he used his breath to offer gratitude, making sure to recognize and thank everyone for their help and caring ways. His spirit remained gentle and appreciative until the very end.

Family Ties

Earlie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Jake Jr., Sadie, Lula Mae, Willie Joe, Sank Tory, and Roosevelt Young.

He leaves to continue his legacy and carry his light:

· His Devoted Wife: Bernice Heard Young

· His Brother: Charles (Emma) Young

· His Children: Alice (Otis) Wilcox, Jeffrey (Olivia) Young, Vivian (Stevie) Lee, Robert Young, and Glenda (Eliot Swain) Young.

· His Heritage: 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were touched by his kindness and steady presence.

Scripture

"His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

— Matthew 25:23
