Mr. Calvin C. ('Cottie Man') Edwards, Sr.

Mr. Calvin C. Edwards Sr. was born on April 4, 1942 in Coosa County to the late Mr. Edmond Edwards and Mrs. Vernora Smith Edwards. 

He received his public education in the Coosa County School System. Where he gained his love for basketball. 

He united with the New Elam Baptist Church on Hwy 9 in Kellyton, Alabama. He was a faithful and devoted member of the church. He had many different roles at the church and served faithfully until death. He truly loved his church and his pastor. 

He worked in many various fields during his lifetime.  He ended up retiring from the Textile Mills. He also work as a Referee for the AHSAA. A job, which he loved dearly and retired from it as well.

Mr. Calvin C. Edwards Sr. loving memories will be cherished forever; by his wife, Lasondra Powell Edwards of Kellyton, Alabama. Two sons, Calvin C. Edwards Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama and Kerry Thomas Jackson of Alexander City, Alabama; Daughter: Shmyia Powell. Step childrens:  April Mitchell and Jostaivos Powell. One sister Mrs. Allie V. Ivey of Gadsden, Alabama. One sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Edwards of Columbus, Georgia.  Grand Child: Kameron Edwards of Winterboro, AL.  A host of other relatives and friends.

He departed his life June 7, 2022 at Prattville Health and Rehabilitation, Prattville, Alabama.
