On June 26, 1954 Joycelyn Harrison was born to Mary and Thurston Strong in Alexander City, Alabama.
Joycelyn used her warm and gentle spirit to excel in her nursing career where she put her “all” into genuinely caring for her patients. Her compassion for nursing and providing service to others led her to join the United States Army where she commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Army Nurse Corps. Joycelyn rose to the rank of Captain and then transitioned into her civilian nursing career.
On October 30, 1993 Jocelyn gave birth to her son, Jamal Harrison, who later decided to follow in his mother’s footsteps and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the United States Army.
Joycelyn dedicated herself to her nursing career for over 40 years. Joycelyn’s compassionate nature and genuine care for those around her are what made her special and loved by all she encountered.
Friday, June 1, 2018 Joycelyn peacefully passed away at her home in Upatoi, Georgia. She is survived by her loving son Jamal Harrison, daughter-in-law Niesha Harrison, her brother Anthony Strong and a host of devoted relatives and friends.
