Willie James Oliver was born June 25, 1936, to the late Mr. Calloway Oliver and Mrs. Annie Ransaw Oliver.
James became a member of the Hollins Spring Baptist Church at an early age. He was joined in holy matrimony to Jeanette Colvin and to this union five children were born. James was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann.
James retired from Russell Corporation and the Alexander City Board of Education.
He leaves to cherish: A loving wife, Mrs. Jeanette Oliver; three daughters, Carlyon (Johnnie) Robbins of Alexander City, AL; Regina (Kenneth) Stevens of Jonesboro, GA; Cherryl Oliver of Milledgeville, GA; one son: Ronnie Oliver of Alexander City, AL. Three sisters: Annie Ruth Corbin of Alexander City, AL; Emma Bynum of Gadsden, AL; Virginia Ann (Oscar) Russell of Detroit, MI. Two brothers: Lester (Helen) Oliver of Ann Arbor, MI. and Bobby Oliver of Detroit, MI.
Nine grandchildren: Nicholas and Cordero Robbins; Cory and Shadowski Edwards; Ronnie and Reo Oliver; Terianey Smith, Gabrielle Stevens and Brandon Stevens. Four sisters-in-law: Brucie Cook, Lillian Barrett, Daisy Rickman and Geraldine Stephens. One Brother-in-law: William Colvin (Naomi). One Special Niece: Emma Corbin, Ann Arbor, MI. Fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
