Ms. Sarah Knight Burns was born to the late Mrs. Ever Lee and Mr. Jack Knight, on March 25, 1940. She confessed Christ and joined Ridge Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary. She later moved her membership to Bread of Life A.C.O.P. and served as a dedicated member, church secretary and member of the mother’s department until her passing. She also served as the secretary and announcer for the mother’s district meeting.
Ms. Burns was preceded in death by her husband Mr. D.C. Burns, her daughters Jacqulyn Powell and Crystal Powell, her sisters Lee Annie Edwards, Francis Calhoun, Kathryn Knight, and Claudine Jones, her brothers: Willie Knight, M.J. Knight and James Knight and her parents.
Ms. Burns departed this life on October 26, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughters Glenda Powell and Sonya Fuller (Terry) of Alexander City, AL, 2 sons James E. Powell of Jacksonville, FL and Hurtis Burns of Alexander City, AL, 1 stepdaughter Bobbie Harris of Opelika, AL. 2 brothers Eljie Knight of Troy, AL, and Carey Knight (Sabrina) of Alexander City, AL. 3 sisters Dorothy Knight, Frankie Knight, and Billie Davis all of Alexander City, AL. 1 sister-in-law Mary Knight of Alexander City, AL.
Grandchildren: Quincy (Quincy Q) Turner, Andrea (Nikki Pooh) Rashad, Mario (Yokie) and Elishia Powell, Corey (Ricochet) Powell, Talaya (Ladybug) Burns, Timothy (Timmy) Gates, Amari (MeMe) Hunter, Toiandrus (Tootie) Gates, Zavier (BD Bop) Gates, and Daniel Burns. Great-Grandchildren: Kierra, Kenedi, Ja'Korian, Jalentski,
Cameran, Jackson, Mariya, Cameron, Brayden, and Erin. 2 Grandpuppies born on her birthday Daisy and Chloe. A host of step-grandchildren other relatives and friends.
