Elijha Ellington was born in Goodwater, Alabama to the late Marvin Ellington and Laura Kelly. Elijha has two brothers and one sister that preceded him in death. Elijha Ellington and Myrtle Meadows were united in Matrimony on August 15, 1956, in Kellyton, Alabama; and grew a family with three sons. He often bragged about the fun, joy and love that grew during their 67 years of marriage. He has several nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and in-laws. Elijha enlisted the United States Army in May 1956 where he served as an Engineer Equipment Repair Technician and Equipment Mechanic. He qualified to be a Motor Transport Operator and Tractor Trailer Truck Driver. He attained the position of a Master Mechanic Instructor for the Army Engineer School. He also graduated from the United States Army Armor School with an Organization Motor Sergeants Course diploma. His 21 years of active-duty service consisted of serving in several stateside military installations, one tour in Korea and Vietnam, and two in Germany. He retired from the U.S. Army in April 1977 with several service awards and bestowed with many distinguished service medals. Elijha began a second career as a certified diesel mechanic at Liebherr Incorporated repairing various types of heavy equipment. He also earned licenses to operate varies heavy equipment vehicles. He culminated a distinguished career with several service awards, medals, and accolades. Elijha spent several hours reading Motor Trend about cars and its performance and consumer reports for the same. Elijha was a gifted man and could fix most things. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and organ and played music by ear.
